Dream Meaning of Rabbit

In the traditional dream lore of Turkey, the rabbit is rarely just an animal. It often stands for a woman, especially a wife or a future bride, and its colour and condition reveal her character. At the same time, rabbits appear in dreams as messengers of wishes, vows, fear, and hidden secrets, so the dreamer's own actions matter a great deal.
Seeing a Rabbit (White, Black, or Coloured)
If you simply see a rabbit, most old commentators say it points to a wife or a woman close to you. A white rabbit is read as a dignified, calm, and virtuous woman, and modern interpreters add that white rabbits bring happiness and fast-approaching wishes. A black or ugly rabbit warns of an ill-tempered woman who may cause you some harm. Multi-coloured rabbits suggest your desires will be fulfilled, but only after some delay.
Catching or Holding a Rabbit
Catching a rabbit with your hands or while hunting is traditionally taken as a sign of marriage. Whether you are single or not, it indicates a new relationship, often with someone younger than you. Old texts say that if you see yourself holding a rabbit, you will soon marry; some also say a wish you have been nursing is about to come true, and a happy piece of news is on its way.
Killing, Cutting, or Sacrificing a Rabbit
Killing or slaughtering a rabbit has two very different readings. In one tradition, cutting a rabbit's throat means you will separate from your spouse, or at least face a painful quarrel. In another, it represents fulfilling a vow: you had promised an offering, and now you are ready to honour it. Some interpreters add that killing a rabbit may signal a loss of interest in material desires and a new turn toward spiritual life. If you see a rabbit that is already dead, especially one you owned, it can mean trouble caused by your wife or your children.
Eating, Buying, or Selling Rabbit Meat
Eating rabbit meat is generally a good sign. It suggests you will earn lawful money without too much effort, and you will enjoy the fruits of your labour. Buying or selling a rabbit, or cooking and eating it, is sometimes interpreted as a mild illness, particularly in the older sources. If you eat rabbit meat in your dream, you may also be getting some small benefit from a woman, though the benefit will be modest at best.
A Rabbit Biting You or Rabbit Blood
If a rabbit bites you, be cautious: it means that a project you have worked on for a long time will not bring the reward you expected. The bite shows your disappointment after much effort. Rabbit blood, on the other hand, is linked to your financial hopes. A great deal of blood means abundance and growing savings; only a little blood warns that time is running out for a wish you want to see realised.
Baby Rabbits and Rabbits in the Home
Seeing baby rabbits is a mixed omen. They can mean small obstacles on the way to your goals, or, in old commentaries, sorrow and trouble. If you see a rabbit living in your house, or you keep rabbits at home, the dream is a good one: you will marry a decent, religious, and calm woman. A nest full of many rabbits suggests you will soon enter a new social circle that pleases you.
Stroking, Talking, or Running Rabbits
Stroking and petting a rabbit in a dream is about a friend who is sweet, cheerful, and warm-hearted but not very brave. If you see someone else petting a rabbit, that person may become jealous and behave in unexpected ways. A rabbit that talks to you is stranger: it points to a woman who surprises everyone, and whose friendship society may not approve of. A rabbit running fast is a warning to keep a secret hidden, while hunting a running rabbit means a period of worry and doubt is approaching.
As with all dream symbols, the rabbit's meaning shifts with its colour, action, and your own feelings in the dream. In the Turkish tradition, it always carries a personal message about love, trust, or hidden fears. Let the dream remind you to look closely at the people around you and at the promises you have made to yourself.
